A community-based scholarship is an educational award that is offered to students in a particular community. Most focus on post-secondary education. These communities may be defined by geography, a particular population or area of study.
How we work
Aqueduct works with community partners, for example, high schools and public school boards, to identify and adjudicate applicants. Aqueduct also runs charitable prizes, which are normally awarded to individuals in cash. Aqueduct’s Board of Directors must approve these recommendations and ensure a compliant process was undertaken.
Awards can be named by the donor. They can be set up during lifetime or as part of a legacy fund to operate the award after the donor’s death.
