For Donors

Facilitating Personal Philanthropy

Aqueduct works with donors to support both significant lifetime giving and planned estate donations. Each contribution is managed through a donor-advised fund that distributes grants to the registered charities selected by the donor.

Every fund reflects a personal mission, and each donor receives tailored guidance and support in their charitable planning. We provide insight, advice, and service to help donors achieve their granting goals and advance their philanthropic purpose.

Where to start

For donors looking to discuss their philanthropic goals with Aqueduct Foundation, please reach out to us via our email [email protected] or our toll-free number 1-888-852-7380, where you can leave a voicemail with your inquiry. Our team will respond within 48 hours to arrange a meeting to discuss your charitable wishes and determine how Aqueduct can help.

FAQs

A donor advised fund is a fund held and owned by a charity that is established by one or more donors. The donor provides advice or recommendations to the charity to make grants to charities. For more information, visit: https://aqueductfoundation.ca/fund/donor-advised-funds/

Aqueduct is a registered Canadian charity, governed by a volunteer board of directors that is majority arm’s length from Scotiabank. Aqueduct has four board sub-committees: Investment Committee; Audit & Finance Committee; Gift Acceptance Committee; Governance & Nominating Committee. Aqueduct’s staff are employed by Scotiatrust.

Aqueduct was established by Scotiatrust in 2006 and contracts with Scotiatrust for administrative services and various Scotiabank affiliates for investment management. As a charity, Aqueduct does not have shareholders and Scotiabank does not own Aqueduct.

Aqueduct donors do not have to be Scotiabank clients and we work with advisors and donors from across the country.
